Hooke & Huygens watch and feet, by Zully

I like to photograph legs and shod feet, they tell so many things… This time I am taking part at the exhibition in Geneva. There are some forty brands : some are independent and new on the market, like our friend Roger Peeters, with his enterprise Hooke & Huygens, and other exist since a long time but their size is medium or small.

EN FRANÇAIS ICI

Rogers watch is special, it is a ring shaped one, an annular watch (see pictures at right and left on the picture above). It is the first time in the history of horology that such a feat has been achieved ! Those who visited the stand found ingenious its shape, the way the hands move as well as its week-long power reserve. As the middle is empty, like a real ring, it is possible to decorate the watch with personal gems or sculptures that one can easily exchange.

On a next article I’ll let you know what the fact to participate to Roger’s adventure means for me. For the moment, let us say that I was requested to work on Thursday and Friday and that I went already on Tuesday to have a look and take the temperature. I also took time to take pictures of some shoes or feet positions that appealed to me.

Here you have the original picture: you see the dial, the hands and the decoration of its center.

Here down you have the picture with my photos, version 1 : one can admire the hands and wonder how they can be able to run – there must be some magic or imagination, probably from both, as they are sisters – one can also admire the eight barrels (they are the ones that store the energy) elegantly connected with gear rings and, of course, the balancier at 12 o’clock.

Version 2 : Do you know what a savonnette means in the world of watchmaking ? It is a watch that has a cover in front and one on the back. The onions or pocket watches that our grandfathers used to wear had them. They were made in order to protect them and in the end it became a discreet way of wearing a jewel since often they were very processed. By adjusting the photo, I give a cover to the watch, that anyway you recognize because of its crown at 2 o’clock. It is the single watch to have it at this place. It has many advantages, but to find out more you should go to Roger’s enterprise in Auvernier (next to Neuchâtel, Switzerland), or, if you are in a hurry, just go on his website !

Images : a photograph is nothing without subjects ! I was not directly inspired by the shoes, but by what they tell about those who wear them. Everything is part of a whole.
